Hi, I’m Alec, the audiologist at Resonate Health Bayfair!
Recommend hearing aids for musicians
Musicians experience sound in a way that's deeply personal. You're tuned into details many people don't consciously notice, and rather than just listening, you're analysing timing, texture, harmonics, balance, and the emotional shape of each note.
The truth is, many modern hearing aids can support a musician, but technology can only go so far. Music places very different demands on hearing aids than everyday speech does. That's why it's important to work with an audiologist who understands music and has the time to fine-tune your devices.
Real stories from real musicians
Roy is our audiologist at Resonate Richmond and Resonate Kerikeri. He's also a drummer whose journey into audiology started when he had custom hearing protection made. That appointment sparked a whole career focused on helping people do what they love for the rest of their lives! In 2025, he met Laurie, a talented guitarist who also builds guitars. Accurate sound quality is extremely important to Laurie, but his previous hearing aids weren't performing as well as he needed them to.
So, he booked an appointment to see Roy at Resonate Kerikeri. Because he's lived in both worlds (music and audiology), Roy knew exactly what Laurie needed. Rather than handing Laurie a pair of hearing aids and hoping for the best, he created a custom program in the ReSound Smart App and made sure Laurie was 100% happy before leaving our studio.
