We will check your ear canals to make sure you are a good candidate for the procedure. Some ear canals are too small or too twisty for the system to work effectively, and some health conditions such as ear infections or problems with your ear drums mean this method of ear cleaning isn’t suitable.
We may use an ear wax softening spray in your ears for a few minutes. This spray helps soften ear wax and makes it easier for it to be washed out of the ear canal.
You will be asked to place the headset on your head to make sure it is sitting comfortably and securely. You will feel a soft rubber earpiece sitting in the entrance to your ear canal.
The system uses body temperature water. You will feel water spraying into your ears and being drained away for 20 seconds. This makes a loud noise, similar to sitting in a carwash. You will then feel 10 seconds of light suction, to remove any remaining water.
Finally, we may use an ear drying spray in your ears to help remove any last drops of water.
If you have severely impacted wax we may sometimes need to repeat the wash.
