Hi, I’m Karen, the audiologist at Resonate Health Coastlands. I have worked most of my adult life in education in South Africa, teaching music to primary school children, Commerce and Maths to high schoolers and Economics to anyone who was interested. Moving to New Zealand posed a new challenge: a new country, a new life, a new career. I was very fortunate to stumble upon Audiology as the perfect second chapter. Now, I get to do what I love most, which is talking to people about what makes them tick and being there to help make the tick better.

I love what I do. Working with humans, being part of their quality of life journey, being there for them when they are vulnerable, and solving problems when they arise. That’s what a great day looks like for me. Working for Resonate allows me to do all this and more; having the opportunity to talk and listen without being rushed is a privilege that allows me to truly make a difference.

Outside of the studio, I love being a mum and an Ouma. Spending time with my family makes me very happy! I’m also a bit of a craft hoarder – I enjoy painting, embroidery, drawing, knitting, and crocheting. Having all the equipment and creating something from scratch brings me endless joy.
