Hi, I’m Roy, and I am thrilled to be an audiologist at Resonate! I am incredibly passionate about work that we do in this industry. Getting to make a huge difference to people on a regular basis makes work so special to me, especially watching the brain do AMAZING things in real time as it adapts to hearing properly again.
My journey into audiology started in my early twenties. At twenty-one, I had a real epiphany about the role your hearing plays in social isolation. I am a musician, and I realised that if I wanted to do what I love for the rest of my life, I would have to have custom hearing protection made to look after my own ears. During my appointment, I realised that audiology would be a dream profession for me, allow me to make a real impact on peoples lives.
That inspired me to go back to university and complete my Audiology degree at the University of Canterbury. Today, I support customers at our Richmond and Kerikeri studios. I’m passionate about helping people not just improve their hearing but also understand why their hearing health matters and why we should all do everything we can to look after ourselves.
Outside of work, I have a long list of hobbies that keep me very entertained. I am still an avid drummer and play as much as I can. I love being out in the hills on my mountain bike or skis depending on the season/conditions, and I’m working on becoming a better woodworker in my garage. More than anything, though, I’m a proud dad and a very lucky husband. Time with my family is the best!
