Hi, I’m James, a Tassie-born audiologist who moved to Aotearoa six years ago and never looked back. I’ve worked in the hearing health industry for over a decade, starting with five years at Australia’s largest provider, Hearing Australia, before continuing my passion here in New Zealand.
My journey into the industry began in an unexpected way, as I didn’t choose audiology; it chose me. Originally, I chose to study accounting but soon realised it didn’t offer me what I wanted in a career. Then, one day, as I was walking past a Hearing Australia clinic, it suddenly dawned on me. As my father is deaf and I have a connection to the deaf community, this could be the path I was meant to follow.
After spending time working at Hearing Australia, I decided to return to university and pursue a career as an audiologist. This job ticks so many boxes for me and allows me to do what I'm passionate about: helping people live their happiest, healthiest lives and finding the best possible hearing outcomes for everyone I meet.
When I’m not in the studio, you’ll probably find me doing DIY projects around my home. Most recently, I built a verandah, and I’m pretty proud of how it turned out!
If you want to chat about your hearing health, come and see me at Resonate Taupo any time you’re in town. Everyone’s story is different, and I’d love to hear yours!
