Hi, I’m Sandeep, the audiologist at Resonate Lower Hutt.

My journey as an audiologist started accidentally. In India, there’s a lot of pressure on children to become an Engineer or a doctor, primarily as a means of upward mobility. I didn’t want to do one or the other. I read about Audiology in a career magazine, and it seemed like the perfect blend of technical expertise and health science. Now, I have almost a decade of experience in the New Zealand audiology industry. I have worked across the public and private sectors and was part of a team that developed a neonatal hearing screening program in India, executing a protocol for early identification and intervention of various communication disorders.

What I love most about my job is hearing stories! Every person has a rich inner world that I have the privilege to explore through conversation. You get to hear about their projects, interests, passions, challenges, and little quirks that make them unique. The insidious thing about hearing loss is that it often causes people to gradually pull away from their interests, hobbies, and social situations.

I joined Resonate because I found the subscription model transformational. Hearing health is an important part of healthy ageing, and hearing loss is a huge public health issue. The exorbitant price tag on hearing devices is almost like placing a health tax on people for no fault of their own. Healthcare shouldn’t be a luxury. I love that we have time to focus on what’s most important - delivering excellent care. Getting the opportunity to enrich people’s lives further through better hearing, affordable, accessible care, and problem-solving is incredibly rewarding.

Outside of work, I’m a keen amateur bird and landscape photographer. I’m also a movie buff, enjoy cooking, gaming, target archery, reading non-fiction books, hiking and exploring new hole-in-the-wall cafes and restaurants with my wife.
